A TRANSITION STAGE

Stage 10: Hami – Dunhuang
Road connection: 78.49 km – Special stage: 340.4 km – Road connection: 106.75 km – Total: 525.24

Today, high temperatures started since the early morning at the bivouac located downtown in a stadium, in Hami. All competitors completed 78 km of liaison to take the start of a timed section of 340 km on a dirt track that honored good driving. The rest of the day was composed of a dried river crossing, canyons, a gravel track and several stones that they tried to avoid to stay away from punctures. The timed section went up to 2,000 meters of altitude.
The Dunhugan bivouac, the most beautiful since the start of the Silk Way Rally, is located on the skirts of the dunes. The region is full of treasures, millenary art and the city of Dunhuang was part of the Silk Road…The Silk Way!

ERIC MOZAS/RAFAEL TORNABELL #135 – 25th of the Stage in 4h13’52: “It was not pretty today, not quite interesting; gravel tracks with dirt and fesh-fesh. We passed several competitors, but it was complicated because of the dust and the stones everywhere on the road. It was not easy to avoid them, but we made it without any punctures. The SMG 2WD buggy worked well, nothing to say, but the special stage was the least interesting since the start of the race.”
